The Sea (Signed Gicleé Print)
I love the ocean.I grew up around it for most of my life. I just love it, period.
I went snorkeling for the very first time when we went to Maui for our fifth anniversary. You know intellectually that there’s a whole world under there, but when you see it with your own eyes and drift with the sway of the ocean, it’s just magical.
One day we followed a sea turtle for over an hour into deeper water. It led us over a hill into a gentle valley and there were so many fish. I could see the flow lines, with fish scattered along them like musical notes.
The Sea is my attempt to capture some of this moment.
I’ve also always thought of the ocean as a woman. There’s so much life there, and I associate life-giving and nurturing with women. I also feel like if the ocean could speak, it would ask us to “Please take care of these dear ones - I’m watching you!”
But lovingly. :)
